Boards
Because of their technical nature, the requirements for joining boards vary. If you are interested in joining a board, then e-mail the Student Body president (Mason Heilman, mennis@ku.edu) and explain what board you would like to join, why you would like to join it, and list any qualifications you have. Appointments to boards are made on a case by case basis.
Student Senate Boards & Committees
Academic Services Board—Krysta Beaver
Oversees Student Senate programs related to academic services including tutoring, advising, the book exchange, and online course evaluations. This board will meet regularly at a time determined by the schedule of the members.
Campus Fee Review Committee
The Campus Fee Review Subcommittee shall review and perform a needs assessment on all student fees. This committee will meet regularly at a time determined by the schedule of the members.
Campus Safety Advisory Board—Whitney Bloom
Reviews issues concerning campus safety including lighting, parking security, JayWalk, SafeRide, KU police and more. This board meets twice a month at a time determined by the schedule of the members.
Center for Community Outreach Advisory Board
Oversee the actions of the CCO Executive Board as well as the activities and programs of CCO, including the addition, deletion, or suspension of any CCO Programs. Meets two times each semester.
KJHK Advisory Board
Oversees the operations of the KJHK campus radio station.
Legal Services for Students Advisory Board- Roderick Patton
Oversees all operations of LSS including implementation of services, creation of budget, and appointment and/or termination of LSS attorneys. This board meets approximately monthly at a time determined by the schedule of the members.
Newspaper Readership Program Advisory Board—Kate August
Oversees the Collegiate Newspaper Readership Program and The Wall Street Journal Program. This board meets approximately monthly at a time determined by the schedule of the members.
Recreation Advisory Board—Jay Trump
Oversees procedures for recreation services and monitors sports clubs, recreation programs, and facility use. This board meets approximately bimonthly at a time determined by the schedule of the members.
Student Environmental Advisory Board—Jason Hering
Makes recommendations to the Dept. of Environment, Health, and Safety, provide assistance on campus recycling policies, pollution prevention, and waste reduction. This board meets approximately monthly at a time determined by the schedule of the members.
Student Health Advisory Board
Monitors student health insurance plans and provides input into program design.
Student Lecture Series Board—Matt Rissien
Organizes and promotes a lecture on campus by a prominent speaker.
Student Legislative Awareness Board—Stacy Elmer
Works on all areas and aspects of student political awareness and advocacy at the city, county, state, and national levels.
Student Media Board—Megan Morriss
Allocates Media Fee money to student media.
Educational Opportunity Fund—Mason Heilman
Allocates the EOF Student Fee money. Meets spring semester to hold hearings.
Women’s & Non-Revenue & Intercollegiate Sports Athletics Board—Libby Johnson
Oversees the expenditures of the revenue produced by the Women’s and Non-Revenue Sports Intercollegiate Sports Fee. Also may make recommendations on capitol expenditures, special projects or other usage of the funds.
