Outreach Policy 2011-2012

Each student senator shall be required to earn a minimum of 100 outreach points in the fall semester and 100 outreach points in the spring semester. The following list displays how senators earn outreach points.

              1. Semi-Annual meetings of Senators with the same constituents (mandatory)              5pts
              2. Beginning of semester outreach emails (mandatory)                                               10pts
              3. Speak at assigned organizations about how to get Senate funding                    10pts each
              4. Attend a Student Senate funded event and turn in event sheet                          10pts each
              5. Author a piece of legislation for Student Senate                                                20pts each
              6. Give a pro/neg speech on legislation during full Senate                      20pts ea. (max 40 pts)
              7. Attend an approved CCO event                                                                          5pts each
              8. Attend an approved SLAB event                                                                       20pts each
              9. Table for Student Senate                                                                             10pts per hour
              10. Speak at organizations to promote freshman elections/the JayLEAD program      20pts each
              11. Participate in a Student Senate affiliated community service project                     20pts each
              12. Going above and beyond the norm in representing Student Senate                   10-20pts each   (at the discretion of the Outreach Director)

Tracking Points: Each week, the Outreach Director will update the montly and overall point charts which can be found in the student senate office. With this cahrt, Student Senators will be able to determine how many points they need in order to fulfill their semester outreach responsibilities. Each Student Senator must complete a minimum of 35 points by the end of the third legislative cycle of each semester. If this requirement has not been met by said date, the Senator will be called to meet with the Chief of Staf to discuss a plan of action. Any additional opportunities to receive points will be posted next to the point charts.
