How To Acquire Funding from Student Senate:
1) Ensure that your group is registered with SILC. This can be done through the Student Involvement & Leadership Center, http://www.silc.ku.edu/registration.shtml, follow the procedure from the preceding link.
2) Contact the Chief of Staff, Hannah Bolton, senatecos@ku.edu, she will assign you a Senator to sponsor a bill that must be written and submitted by the legislative deadline. (See the schedule of meetings for the deadlines.

3) The most basic funding is general funding, which is $200.00 and an optional $30.00 for a banner. Event funding is for your specific event and you need to provide a detailed event budget along with your proposed legislation. If your legislation includes a contract with a third party speaker or vendor please also include a completed contractual service form (found here: http://studentsenate.ku.edu/forms/for%20senators/Contractual_Services.pdf)
*** Budget Form Download HERE if you're requesting amounts in excess of $1000***
4) The Finance Committee and one other committee of Student Senate will see your group’s funding bill on a Wednesday evening. Upon it’s passing in both committees it will then be heard by the full Senate body on the following Wednesday evening. Be sure to stay in touch with your assigned senator for exact times and meeting rooms. You will want to be present to represent your bill.
5) Funding will come available 10 days after your bill is passed through full Senate.
6) After the money has been allocated to your group, it is the Treasurer and Assistant Treasurer’s job to keep track of your funding so you do not have to handle the money yourself. Once you are ready to spend your money, come into the Student Senate Office, Room 410 of the Kansas Union and fill out a purchase order (PO). Once the PO has been approved by David (Treasurer) or Carlye (Assistant Treasurer) you may continue the purchasing process. Do not make any purchases without pre-approval you will NOT be reimbursed for any out-of-pocket expenses.
7) If you have specific questions about what your funds can be used for please contact David Cohen or Carlye Yanker for clarification.
